Christine Sundt - Choreographer 'Andersen Ballets'

Christine was born in Oslo, Norway in 1977. She trained in the UK first in the Checcetti style and then continued her professional dance training at the Lower and Upper Schools of the Royal Ballet School. Here she choreographed a number of works including: Babble, Angst and Tarot winning the Sir Kenneth Macmillan Choreographic Prize whilst still at the school. Christine has performed with the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Whilst completing a degree in Politics and a further Masters in Arts Administration, Christine has pursued her love of choreography and theatre. She has choreographed two productions of Romeo & Juliet for the English Shakespeare Company. She has also choreographed a number of musicals, including Chess and Cabaret as well as many charity fashion shows and other high-profile events.

Her other work as a performer and choreographer includes Beatrix Potter’s Tailor of Gloucester for the BBC, and the Siemens ‘Xelebri’ launch with Dame Shirley Bassey working alongside dancers of the Royal Ballet Company and Rambert Dance Company.

During 2003 and 2004 Christine worked for the Royal Academy of Dance, where she played both an administrative and artistic role in their flag-ship school based at RAD headquarters in London.

2005 saw the world premiere of Christine’s biggest work to date; Andersen’s Fairy Tales. This was a double bill presenting two of Hans Christian Andersen’s best-loved tales ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ and ‘The Red Shoes’ at the National Opera House in Bulgaria with 36 dancers from the National Ballet of Sofia. The performances have had both popular and critical success and since the premiere Christine has been appointed the ‘principle guest choreographer’ to the company.

Further credits include The Secret Garden for the London Children’s Ballet
