Matthew Mitchell was born in Brighton, England in 1971. After attending Lancing College he went up to Cambridge University to read English and Education.
Matthew is currently producing the musical La Cage Aux Folles at the Longacre Theatre on Broadway – the production has won 3 Tony Awards (Best Revival of a Musical, Best Actor in a Musical and Best Director) as well as winning 3 Drama Desk Awards, 4 Outer Critics Circle Awards and the Drama League Award for Best Musical Revival.

Current projects include a major international tour of La Cage Aux Folles, a forthcoming production of Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella at Sadler’s Wells this Christmas, to be followed by a major UK and international tour. He is also producing a major motion picture with his film company, Circadian, which will be shot in LA in 2011.
Matthew has also served as an elected politician, representing Warwick Ward on Westminster City Council. He lives in West Sussex in the South of England.
